LATINOS PREPARADOS GOALS & OBJECTIVES

What we do:

• Before the Disaster: Increasing the availability of information in Spanish
• During the Disaster: Demonstrate and encourage calm, safe behavior during emergency situations
• After the Disaster: Facilitate access to information and available services and resources for the Spanish speaking community

5. The children: Knowing the plans of your children's schools and childcare centers
6. Survival: Tips to help you during the disaster

9. Promoting a more effective community response

ACTIVITIES OF THE LATINOS PREPARADOS VOLUNTEERS

1. Free abbreviated classes offered in Spanish:
   • First Aid / Home Safety
   • Disaster Preparation (Information also available on training in English)
2. Answers to disaster related questions by telephone or mail
3. Presentations to groups, churches, and community centers
4. Information offered through the mass media (radio, television, press)
5. Education for the Latina Community on the local, state and Federal disaster relief systems and how to work with them effectively
6. Victim advocacy and translation assistance for the Spanish speaking community after a disaster.
